Not useful for foreigners

If Taxi cannot find you, they give up to easy. The taxi driver could not find my house after sending him my address twice and then he blew me off. It was raining and I was left stranded to find a way to the airport.

택시를 바쁠때 타는데 허구헌날 광고 창 끄느라 시간 허비함. 그리고 결제수단 카드번호 왜 카카오 혼자 앞번호표기임? 뒷번호 표기로 좀 바꿔주세요. 바쁘니까 점유율 높아서 어쩔 수 없이 쓰긴 하는데 ui/ux 다 뒤집어야 한다고 생각합니다.

위치만 찍고 바로 콜부르기 하지말고 경로선택 눌러서 살펴보세요. 몇달을 다른 네비앱 보면서 확인했는데 더 돌아가는 길 아니면 비슷해도 막히는 길을 골라주네요. 아는곳 귀찮아서 택시 몇번 탔다가 이상해서 찾아보기 시작했는데 안 막히는 노선 냅두고 막히는 길 띄워주는 건 해도해도 너무한다 싶습니다.

This app is useless foreigners. First of all, you have to write the name of the place in Korean otherwise it won’t show on the app when you search it. Second, I reserved two vans to drive us to airport and they refused to take all of our luggage one of them just took the carry on luggage and the other refused to take us he was angry and shouting and acting weirdly. And when my family arrived to the airport with the one who took the carry ons he didn’t even help them with carrying the bags and he dropped them somewhere far of our flight gate while they were trying to tell him to drop them there he ignored them.

Impossible to use this app

탑승위치에서 택시 부른거고 택시는 저멀리서 오고있는데도 탑승위치로 이동하라고 뜨는 상단알림이 언젠가부터 생겻더라고? 이런거 띄울거면 이용자 현재 위치라도 반영해서 일정거리 이내면 안뜨게 하던가 제자리에 서서 빙빙 돌아오는 택시 기다리는 중인데 누구 놀리는 것도 아니고ㅋㅋㅋ

While the vast majority of my experiences have been perfect, there has been the time or two when I requested a taxi, waved at it from across the street, and have been left alone.

I have been here for 2 weeks and let me tell you, the apps are GARBAGE! They are the least intuitive, nonsensical, most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen! Kakao doesn’t recognize a single address EVER!! You can copy and paste the exact address in English or Korean and view the location from Google maps, and Kakao will act like it has no idea what you’re talking about. So be prepared to spend your time on a different map (like Google) and setting every location you’re trying to get to from the Kakao map view cause it’s never seen an address in its life. Also, would you like to book a car ahead of time? JOKES ON YOU! If you set the ride for “tomorrow at 9:30”, chose the option you want, and hit request, be prepared for cars to head towards you IMMEDIATELY and you having to cancel. When you cancel, it will still show your original request of booking for the next day, but by actually hitting request, you’re getting a car immediately! WHY HAVE A BOOK AHEAD OPTION IF YOU DONT ACTUALLY OFFER IT!? I live in THAILAND in an area much less developed in Seoul Korea, and let me tell you that I’ve never had to deal with the idiocy of app use that I’ve had to deal with here. Side note, the app also crashes all the time and drivers clearly don’t get info about where you’re standing for pickup as I’ve been left or had to run to other areas to catch the cars. Also be sure to screenshot the price of your ride because the second your ride is accepted, the price vanishes leaving you and your driver in a language barrier predicament. So fun!

Does it work and get you a cab, yes. But what it fails to do is actually locate you or assist you with where you are. For example. I’m in Pohang, and I’m trying to get somewhere, i confirm the location it has me set in, but it doesn’t tell you the direction you’re looking until after the cab is called for. It had me on the opposite side of the street from which my driver stopped. It also must not alert or translate to the driver. When i noticed the issue, i immediately informed the driver that we needed to cross the street. Over 18,000 won later, and the driver leaves because we didn’t get in his car in under 30 seconds of his arrival. We recalibrate the app and submit the request again. Same results. I even ran down the street in front of our drivers car to stop him and he just continued. Now I’m down over 36,000 won and still have to request yet another 18,000 won cab. This time we do it from a location that is undeniably where we are located. We still had to race to where the app moved us to in order to make the cab on time. I wouldn’t write if it only happened this one time, but this happened on different shorter trips I’ve taken as well.

Extremely difficult to make an account, uses two different apps and the process is not only inefficient but incredibly useless. Genuinely don’t understand how this app is rated so highly, its very poorly designed.

The reservation feature doesn’t work correctly when the phone language is set to English. All of the buttons and text just appear as “Later” and many of the buttons do not function (do nothing when tapped). If English is not supported, it would be better to show Korean rather than break in this way. Before the last update it worked just fine. Now, it’s impossible to know which button is “cancel” unless you remember from the old version of the app. For a company the size if Kakao, this is a major quality assurance failure! I use KakaoT often and spend a lot if money in the app… please fix this!

더 이상 서울시내에서 택시는 손님을 찾으러 다니지 않는다.이 앱을 통하여 일반 택시도 콜택시로 사용이 가능하기 때문이다. 좋은 점이 많지만 앱에 사용이 그렇게 간단하지 않다. 카카오는 이 앱에 자신들이 할 수 있는 모든 것을 집어 넣었다. 잘 보이지 않는 시니어들은 작은 핸드폰 화면 속에서 조악한 UI를 통하여 최악의 UX 를 경험한후 사용을 포기한다. 길거리에서 지나가는 택시를 잡기 위해 고군분투 하지만 헛된 희망일 뿐이다. 시니어들은 왜 갑자기 모든 일반 택시가 사라졌는지 알지 못한다.

제목 그대로 카카오티 주차 자동결제 등록해두었는데 주차시설 측 문제로 결제가 안된 상황(감면 대상이라 호출 누르고 주차비 감면 후 카드 넣고 결제진행하여 출차했는데 알고보니 시설측 문제로 결제가 안된 상황)에 대한 대응이 너무하네요 1) 감면 대상에 대한 결제는 논의중이라 어떻게 될지 모르니 결제된 이후 확인할 수 있다(아직 논의중인데 순차적으로 결제될 것이라고 카톡 푸시메시지 발송) 2) 이후 일반결제가 되면 다시 인증 후 재결제 안내 3) 일반결제에 대한 인증은 30일 이내 두번만 가능하니 세건 중 두건은 2)와 같이 처리하고 남은 한 건은 다시 문의달라고 함 이렇게 번거롭게 할거면 차라리 서비스 안쓰고 말지 싶습니다. 상담사 베키님, 모아나님(24.05.08) 답답한 응대로 시간은 시간대로 허비하고요

Setting up an account is ridiculously long and complex - and you have to effectively do the process twice because they require you to use to separate apps to even get a taxi. I’m already on hour two of trying to set it up without success.

As an American visiting Korea, it is impossible for me to create an account. No matter what email address I try to use it always says “suspicious activity detected” and it kicks me out every time. I’m using a local eSIM so I can’t use my American phone number either, I don’t have phone service, just data. This is incredibly frustrating as a tourist. If I could rate it less than 1 star I would.

Can't register with a US phone number because the app doesn't accept a 10 digit number. Also, the app requires that you install Kakaotalk to add payment information. I don't want to install 2 apps to use 1 app

I could not down load the app without Korea phone number.

I love Kakao Talk app but this is ridiculous. The app require korean government ID which mean foreigners can’t use it?! With so many people visiting korea every year, they never thought this will be a problem 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

It’s not accesible. Most apps are not foreigner friendly in Korea. Mainland China is more conviene and open than south koreA

I have try with this app for over 3 months now I can’t create an account because it cannot verify my phone number. All it says is “bad request”

택시를 예약해놨는데 다른 손님 타시면 묻지도 않고 출발하나요? 이런 일도 한두번이여야죠.. 덕분에 지각 찍혔어요~

Navigation directions sometimes seem pretty off. On our most recent ride the driver took a strange route that he blamed on the directions from the app that ended up costing twice as much as the estimates cost. In contrast the driving directions from Kakao map showed a much more straightforward and shorter route.

Every now and then the app just will not call any taxis, even at normal business hours with taxis on the road. There is a bug with calling out to taxis. The system seems to go down, as several people in our group all lost the ability to call cars at the same time.

There are many English speaking people in Korea. Please make your applications have the option to language

I downloaded the app to use when I visit Seoul in January. The sign-up required I download and set-up Talk. Talk required a resident ID number and local phone carrier/number. Can’t complete the set-up for either app without it.

So a taxi can take your reservation. And then if the driver decides to cancel… he will call you and ask YOU to cancel (which brings your passenger rating down.) If you refuse to cancel… the driver can choose to cancel and bring down his own rating or he can decide to just charge you and let you deal with the hassle of applying for refund. For foreigners- they will be screwed since drivers know how difficult getting a refund for foreigners is. Expect to have some terrible experiences due to this app and how it allows for bad behaviour.

There is no way the taxi doesn’t stop when they see people who are willing to pay for the service. Instead it seems like majority of drivers are adapted to a reserving system, which I think it’d be good when there’s no feature where drivers can reject the request of customers. These drivers reject the request if they can’t make a good portion of money due to a short distance between the pickup location and the destination. How is it even possible for me to say this app works when I waited for almost two hours and a half just waiting for a driver to accept my request. Literally so useless.

Korea changed their address format some years ago and the locations on this app follow the old format. Searching for addresses was a nightmare so I literally had to look up the location on Naver Map and then drag and zoom on the map to the place I wanted to go. Also, there are no payment options for anything but Korean credit cards. You can pay taxis directly but I think this reduced the number of taxis we could pool from. This being tied to your KaKaoTalk app login is also very annoying since you can only have one login session. I had a second phone for a Korean SIM and I couldn’t login on that phone so I had to use it as a hotspot to use KaKao services.

Would be nice to get some support in English. It is oddly difficult to register a credit card, despite having an arc card, a local bank account, and a local phone.

This app is not foreigner friendly. And impossible to get a taxi without this app. Ridiculous. Need a korean phone number. Stupid. Bring uber to Korea please. This app has no competition. It is a monopoly. As a result the quality is awful.

승객의 편의를 위해 만들어졌다기 보다는 골라 태우기와 승차 거부를 손쉽게 하도록 만들어진 어플입니다.

Kakao app is a monopoly that has grown fat and inefficient to the extent is doesn’t care about it’s consumer and only cares about it’s share price and profit numbers. They collect so much personal information and share it with the Korean socialist government. This is not a good platform.

Why is it that when I set a specific pick-up point and destination, I’m penalized for the taxi driver not showing up the the right spot? Horrible app.

App itself is very useful, but most of notice is in Korean , and some Chinese on notification tab… not sure why the languages are all mixed up.

The new update doesn’t let me bypass registering a card....

Don’t expect to call a taxi on rush hour with this. Taxi drivers are free to ignore request without limit unlike uber. Just put a temporary ban on drivers who ignore more three times or something, I don’t see why can’t they just implement such a simple thing. When uber and lyft comes in korea this app will burn in trash day one 제발 우버 발톱 때만큼이라도 따라가라

알고리즘에 자신이 없으면 예상 시간을 넉넉히 잡던가.. 1분 걸린다는 택시가 왜 10분 가까이 걸리는건가요
